As living an active lifestyle is Dr. Gouws’ personal passion, he strives to enhance people’s lives by assisting in changing their lifestyles.
Dr Gerrit Gouws studied medicine at the University of Pretoria and completed his training in 1998. He did his internship at Tembisa hospital and served his community service year in a rural hospital close to Burgersfort, Mpumalanga. From there he moved to Pretoria where he practiced medicine as a General Practitioner in one of the biggest private practices in South Africa. Furthermore, he also spent a year as a surgical intern at the Pretoria Academic Hospital and completed his post graduate exam in Anatomy.
In private practice he was exposed to the amount of patients taking chronic pain medication for various reasons. He treated a lot of patients with migraines and developed injection techniques to ease their pain more effectively than medication could.
In his research he was exposed to Prolotherapy and after attending conferences in America with the highly esteemed Hackett-Hemwall foundation, he returned to South Africa and joined up with Dr Walter Bell.
Dr. Gouws and his wife moved to Parys in 2011, and ultimately Parys became his focus community for Prolotherapy. However, Dr. Gouws also specializes in:
